Institute

The Federal Institute of Agricultural Economics is a research institution for economics and social science belonging to the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management (BMLFUW).

Founded in 1960 as “Agrarwirtschaftliches Institut“, the institute was later established under law and renamed “Bundesanstalt für Agrarwirtschaft” upon the enforcement of the federal act governing the agricultural federal agencies in 1983.

Scope of Activities:

  • Research and empirical analysis in the field of agricultural economics
  • Devising of business management consultancy materials
  • Development and provision of methodology and data processing software for agricultural research
  • Provision of a special agricultural economics library and documentation centre
